Romsey Abbey (interior)
The Romsey Psalter
The Romsey Psalter dates from the middle of the 15th century.
The Psalter was purchased by Romsey Abbey and is thought to have been written
in the vicinity of Romsey, as St Ethelfleda is mentioned in the script.
More information can be found in the book,
Romsey Abbey through the centuries by Judy Walker.
This silver icon was bequeathed to the Abbey by Aldyth Wellington
on her death in 1996. She worshiped here and served Romsey
in many ways including three years as Romsey's mayor.
The figures depicted are those of (from left to right)
St Basil the great, St John Chrysostom, and St Gregory.
This picture shows the memorial stone which was placed in the Abbey in 1994
to the four Church Wardens who negotiated the purchase of the
Abbey Church for £100 from Henry VIII.
They were Robert Cooke, John Salt, John Ham and John Knyght.
