St Mary Chapel

On the right wall in St Mary Chapel which is at the East end of the building

are some early 13th century wall paintings which were uncovered in the early 1900’s.

They relate a story in four medallions which would have continued further eastwards

before the main part of the Lady Chapel was demolished.

They are now in poor condition.

If you would like to know more about the conservation work that has been done,

it can be found in Romsey Abbey through the centuries by Judy Walker.
